But with so many waterfalls to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide to the best waterfalls near Canggu, so you can spend less time researching and more time soaking up the natural beauty of Bali.

Best Waterfalls Near Canggu
While most of the waterfalls in our list are just fifteen to twenty miles from Canggu, it can take an hour or more to reach them because of narrow roads and dense traffic.
If you want to have more time for swimming and enjoying the waterfalls, make sure to head out early from Canggu to beat the traffic and crowds.
If you’re very comfortable on a scooter, all of these spots can be reached by motorbike. However, if you don’t have experience on a bike, we suggest hiring a driver for the day.

1. Tegenungan Waterfall
If you’re in Canggu, be sure to check out Tegunungan Waterfall, located about 16 miles to the northeast. To get there, leave early to avoid traffic and plan on about an hour’s travel time.
Once you arrive, it’s an easy 127-step walk down to the falls, which cascade 82 feet into a beautiful pool.
Tegenungan Falls is probably the most well-known waterfall in Bali and attracts many tourists. To avoid the crowds and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, it’s best to go early in the morning or right before closing time.
The falls are open every day from 6:30am to 6pm, and there are a few souvenir shops and restaurants nearby if you want to spend more time in the area. The entrance fee to the falls is 20,000 IDR which is about $1.30 USD.
While you’re at the falls, you can take a swing on the Tegenungan Waterfall Swing, which offers a beautiful view of the waterfall and makes for some incredible pictures. The swing currently costs 200,000 IDR which is about $13 USD.
2. Sumampan Waterfall
Sumampan Waterfall, located about an hour away from Canggu by car or motorbike, is a stunning waterfall that is not to be missed.
A tiny carpark gives access to a short path through the jungle-like vegetation, which leads about fifty steps down to the falls, which are truly majestic – a hidden jewel near Canggu and other tourist hotspots.
The manmade waterfall is actually fed by water from nearby rice terraces, creating a beautiful cascade that plunges into a rock pool, perfect for a refreshing dip.
Despite being manmade, Sumampan Waterfall is situated in a lush jungle setting, providing visitors with an idyllic natural escape.
Sumampan Waterfall is currently free to enter, but there is a donation box at the entrance that requests a small fee of 5,000 IDR ($0.30 USD).
3. Uma Anyar Waterfall
While you’re in the area, you have to check out Uma Anyar Waterfall. It’s located just 2 minutes away from Sumampan waterfall, and is just as beautiful.
Popular with local visitors, it has only recently been opened to the public in an effort to boost tourism in the area.
It’s definitely worth a visit – you can climb to the top level or, if you’re not feeling particularly adventurous, bathe in the cool rock pool at the bottom.
Uma Anyar Waterfall is free to enter, but you can make an optional donation on your way out that will go towards keeping the path and waterfall access maintained.
4. Suwat Falls
Also close by to the above waterfalls are the Suwat Falls. It takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach Suwat Waterfall from Canggu.
The falls are open daily from 8am to 6pm, and as with most of the falls in the area, there is a small entrance fee of 15000 IDR ($1) per person.
A 5-minute walk down to the falls will reward you with an absolutely stunning view, and getting there early will ensure that you have it largely to yourself for a while at least.
5. Goa Rangreng Waterfall
About an hour’s drive from Canggu, the Rangreng falls are unique because they include caves and flow through a small canyon.
The water at Goa Rangreng flows gently down the rock face, and there is a natural pool at the bottom where you can relax and swim.
It’s somewhat of a hidden gem in Bali, with far fewer crowds than other waterfalls in the area. However, the surrounding scenery is stunning and it’s still well-worth a visit.
You can access Goa Rangreng Waterfall by a ten-minute walk from the parking area. The pathway can get very muddy and slippery, so a good pair of shoes is recommended.
Parking is free of charge, but you may be asked for a 10,000-20,000 IDR ($0.70 to $1.50) donation as an entry fee.
6. Kanto Lampo Waterfall
About an hour’s drive from Canggu, Kanto Lampo is located very close to the Goa Rangreng Waterfall.
After paying the 20,000 IDR ($1.50 USD) entrance fee, it’s an easy five-minute walk from the parking area through rice terraces down to the base of the falls.
This is definitely one of Bali’s most beautiful waterfalls, which means you can definitely expect to find crowds here most days. However, you shouldn’t let that keep you away!
This cascade waterfall features a shallow pool to swim in, lush vegetation, and some really interesting rock carvings nearby.
Kanto Lampo is one of Bali’s most accessible waterfalls, so it’s ideal for families with young children, as well as for elderly visitors.
7. Tibumana Waterfall
Just under 25 miles from Canggu, or a 1 hour and 20 minute drive, you’ll reach Tibumana falls. They are rated by Tripadvisor as the number one “thing to do “ in Bangli, where they are situated.
Tibumana Waterfall is open daily from 6am to 6pm, with an entrance fee of 10,000 IDR ($0.70 USD).
A short walk down about 100 steps will take you right to the base of the falls, with their unique veil of water falling unbroken into the pool below.
There are plenty of places to swim, but get there early – Tibumana has become a tourist hotspot and can get pretty crowded around midday.
8. Pengempu Waterfall
This waterfall is often overlooked in favor of the better-known waterfalls, but that’s precisely why you should visit. It’s located just 45 minutes from Canggu, its attraction lies in its lack of tourist traffic.
It’s not more than 60 feet high, with a small pool at its base, but the setting is beautiful and you will probably have the entire place to yourself if you get there early.
There is no entrance fee, but you can make a small donation.
9. Taman Beji Griya Waterfall
Only 16 miles from Canggu and a 40-minute drive, these waterfalls are unique in that they have a religious significance and physical beauty.
Many people go there to participate in spiritual cleansing ceremonies. However, these rituals are completely optional to participate in.
The falls are surrounded by beautiful gardens and statues carved into the rocks.
There are restaurant facilities so you can stay for lunch if you have the day free. It costs 10,000 IDR to enter the waterfall, and you will be charged double that for the cleansing ceremony.
10. Nung Nung Waterfall
Nung Nung Waterfalls is the furthest north of all our recommended waterfalls. However, it shouldn’t take more than an hour and 15 minutes to reach from Canggu in light traffic.
It’s one of the highest falls in Bali, towering 165 feet above its base, and it is a spectacular sight.
Because of its distance from Canggu, Nung Nung is one of the less crowded waterfalls in the area. You may even have it to yourself in the early part of the day.
The falls open at 9am daily and close at 4pm. You do have to walk about 500 steps down to the base of the waterfall, but it’s definitely worth the short hike.
